Welcome to My Wholesale Boutique, a family run business. We are Canadians that spend most of our time in lovely Ecuador in South America. Ecuador is a developing country where approximately 40% of the population live below the poverty line. Check out our blog at The Earth Friendly Family.
We moved to Ecuador to pursue our interests in fair trade and the preservation of the Amazon rainforest, as well as to learn another language. One of our objectives as a family is to help to develop the economy while being respectful of the rich local culture and traditions. We are especially interested in the growth and development of handmade goods in Ecuador, seeking opportunities to work with local artisans through a fair trade model. Our first choice in products was beaded necklaces made with organic seeds and nuts from the Amazon rainforest. We found the necklaces to be very well made and are proud to offer an item that helps preserve the rainforest through harvests from native palm trees. We think that sustainable use of what the rainforest already provides is an excellent alternative to cutting down the forest for farming or mining.
Another of our family goals is to live a more sustainable life that doesn’t use so much of the earth’s resources. We walk and use public transportation. We look for organic foods and goods. Our life in Ecuador is smaller in terms of material goods, but much richer in spirit and even in health.
We are passionate about supporting the amazing artists that we find around us. Ecuador is not a tourist haven, and it’s hard for local artists to earn enough money to adequately support their families. Through our shops we hope to bring Ecuadorian crafts to the world, giving support to local artists and helping to preserve their unique techniques for future generations.
