Tagua shares many characteristics with ivory in that it’s hard, light, break resistant, stain resistant and beautiful. Tagua is grows naturally as part of the Amazon rainforest and is gathered when the pods drop off the trees. No animals or trees were harmed to obtain this material.
This necklace is made by hand through a women’s cooperative in the highlands of Ecuador. The necklace is purchased through fair trade methods that help these women earn an honest and sustainable living doing the work they love. Make sure you pick up the matching earrings.
Once we receive your order, we will place the order with the artisan(s) who will create the item. The items are made once the order is received to ensure the best quality. The items are not sitting in a warehouse somewhere.
We will communicate the length of time it will take for you to get your order, this will generally be between two to six weeks depending on the size of your order, and the local availability of the inputs into the products you order.
All the items on our store include a weight. As you put items into your shopping cart, the weight is totalled and the cost of the shipping is calculated. All of our shipping is done by weight from Ecuador to your country.
You have an option of using the postal system or using UPS for shipping. UPS is more expensive, but they will help you more with the customs declarations. The postal system is less expensive, but you may have to go to your local postal office to complete a customs declaration.
All of our items are shipped with an invoice detailing the items and the amounts paid for the items so that any customs fees can be appropriately applied.
